Country Introduction
Every day Progressio’s partner organisations in Zimbabwe are dealing with the overwhelming difficulties the country is facing today: The lack of economic stability, food scarcity, the effects of climate change and a widespread high rate of HIV go often hand-in hand.
However, the remarkable resilience of the Zimbabwean people and concentrated efforts of the government to stabilise the country means things could be the right way. Progressio and its partner organisations are supporting the people of Zimbabwe in building capacities to help lift themselves out of poverty and improve the quality of live for marginalised and vulnerable people.
Within various projects, partner organisations like Environment Africa teach special know-how, for example innovative practices of agro-ecology, and promote equitable and sustainable management of natural resources.
Progressio is also working to strengthen systems that promote the constant and sustained identification and adoption of new approaches to HIV and AIDS programming at a grass root level, for example by strengthening the Zimbabwe AIDS Network and its member organisations.
