Progressio Ireland is an international development organisation working for sustainable development and the eradication of poverty. We place skilled professionals whom we call ‘development workers’ with local partner organisations in 11 countries:
- Latin America
- Caribbean
- Africa
- Middle East
- South East Asia
At an international level, we support and supplement the voices of our partners to change the systems that perpetuate poverty in the developing world.
Our approach combines advocacy work to secure equitable policies with the strengthening of community-based organisations that represent the interests of the poor and improve their quality of life.
The success of our development work is measured by people and organizations being able to continue to work effectively after the Developmet Worker has finished their placement.
Our work is focused on three themes:
- Sustainable Environment (Water/Food Security)
- HIV and AIDS
- Community Participation in bringing about change
Our Vision
To bring about a just world, where people can have life in all its fullness, where human rights are respected, where all have their basic needs met and can exert control over their lives.
Our Values
- Justice for all by fighting for basic rights and challenging unfair political, social and economic structures locally and globally
- Full and active participation of the poorest, most excluded groups in decision-making which works to reduce vulnerabilities stemming from conflict, war and environmental degradation
- Reducing the barriers against gender equality
- Mutual respect for cultural diversity
